Maine is already at 75 mph. All other New England states are at 65 mph, except for New Hampshire, which is at 70 mph. This also comes after a NJ lawmaker !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
75 mph (120 km/h) is also the standard motorway speed limit in many countries around the world (though 130 km/h is common in Europe), including in less developed ones compared to the USA like Brazil, China, India, and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
That's right, do you want YOUR STATE to have a lower max speed limit than in those countries? Of course, not! This is AMERICA, DAMMIT!

NY will have to invest non-existant money in better roads. I drove a repaved in spring road that was potholling by fall before winter hit. They suck in roadcare. Their i90 toll interstate dhould be 75-80....but that's it.

I was on Wolfram Alpha earlier today and I found that the number of road deaths per capita in the US is a lot higher than in other countries. Of course, the percentage of people who drive in each of these countries is different, so it's not a perfect comparison, but it's a starting point.
US - 14.7 deaths per 100,000 people
Finland (where all drivers must know how to handle a powerslide and getting a license takes 3 years of driver training) - 6.3 deaths per 100,000 people
Germany (select areas have no speed limit) - 6.2 deaths per 100,000 people
Canada - 8.5 deaths per 100,000 people
(Let's ignore the fact that Russia has 25. We've all seen those dashcam videos and we know about their crazy krokodil drug.)
